SCARBOROUGH — Jean-Marc Desjardins, 92, formerly of Lewiston, died Monday, April 15, at the Maine Veterans’ Home, where he had been a resident for the past two years.

He was born in Andreville, P.Q., Canada, May 14, 1920, the son of Joseph and Ida Boucher Desjardins. Moving to Lewiston at a young age, he was educated in Lewiston schools and graduated from Lewiston High School. A veteran of World War II, Jean-Marc served in the U.S. Army’s 14th Ordnance Bomb Disposal Squad with great distinction, earning a Bronze Star.

While serving in Europe, he received a draft notice from the Canadian Army. On March 23, 1945, he took the oath of citizenship in Paris, France. After the war, he returned to Lewiston and was employed for many years as a salesman for Central Distributors.

He was a member of the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, Prince of Peace Parish. On May 31, 2007, he married Yvette Boisvert, and took great pride and pleasure in being part of her family. Yvette passed away on Oct. 27, 2012. He was especially close to his sister Therese, and also enjoyed spending time with his friends in the “Breakfast Club.”

Survivors include three stepdaughters, Camille and husband, David Welsch, of West Newfield, Monique Boisvert-Guay of Hancock and Jocelyne and husband, Samuel Gregg, of Eliot; nine stepgrandchildren; and 15 stepgreat-grandchildren.
