LEWISTON — The city’s annual Clean-Up Assistance Week will be held from April 20-27 at the city’s solid waste facility at 424 River Road.
During the week, the city will waive tip fees and use of the punch pass. In addition to the facility’s regular hours of 7:15 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. Monday through Friday, it will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays, April 20 and 27.
The cleanup assistance is for Lewiston residents only, and proof of residence — such as a driver’s license, tax receipt, and/or utility bill — will be required. Failure to provide proof of residency may result in the resident paying for waste material disposal.
Tip fees will not be waived for commercial accounts, including owners of multiunit apartment buildings as defined by city ordinance.
All materials to be disposed of must be separated by bulky waste, construction and demolition debris, wood (no pressure-treated wood), brush and tree waste (no stumps), scrap metal (no engines, gear boxes, lawnmowers or tanks of any kind), televisions/computer monitors (no more than seven per customer).
During Clean-Up Assistance Week, the facility will also accept up to four tires and two 20-pound propane gas cylinders from each resident at no cost.
Also that week, the Public Works Department will also do curbside pickup of brush stacked with butt ends facing the street. All brush must be curbside by April 21. Quantities are limited to no more than one standard pickup truck load per residence, and no tree stumps or wood greater than 12 inches in diameter.
