Calling ourselves “Team Andronauts,” I recently spent two weeks with four other Lewiston/Auburn-area young professionals exploring the many opportunities available in Androscoggin County for recreation and civic involvement.

We were participating in the “Y-Not? Challenge,” a civic involvement scavenger hunt hosted by the Young Professionals of the Lewiston/Auburn Area, a branch of the Androscoggin County Chamber of Commerce.

By participating in the “Y-Not” Challenge, I got out of my comfort zone, visited new places and found new ways to participate in our local community.

Whether we were taking a tour of Museum L/A, getting to know the Lewiston Public Library, visiting the Auburn City Council, or interviewing Auburn Mayor Labonte, each new activity led to new discoveries and new reasons to appreciate what Lewiston/Auburn has to offer to young professionals.

I commend YPLAA for hosting this amazing civil involvement opportunity. By engaging and building a thriving young professional community right now, we are building a prosperous future for Lewiston/Auburn and all of Androscoggin County.
