WILTON — A two-vehicle crash Wednesday night at the intersection of Routes 2 and 4 and Route 156 sent one person to the hospital, police Chief Heidi Wilcox said.

Alexa Stigam, 16, of Gray was driving east on Route 156, known as Depot Street, before entering Route 2 about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Zachary Cannon, 19, of Dixfield was traveling east on Route 2 down Burgess Hill. His 2000 Ford Explorer struck the passenger side of Stigam’s 1998 Volkswagen Beetle, Wilcox said.

Riding with Stigam was Douglas Fournier, 17, of Wilton, who suffered a back injury. Fournier was  transported to Franklin Memorial Hospital by NorthStar Ambulance. He was treated and released, according to a hospital spokesman on Thursday.

Stigam faces a charge of driving beyond the scope of a learner’s license because  newly licensed drivers are not suppose to have passengers other than family members, Wilcox said.

Both vehicles were demolished and towed from the scene by Dutch Gap Auto.

Wilton police Officer Michael Boucher investigated the accident and members of Wilton Fire Department assisted at the scene.
