RUMFORD — Mountain Valley High School Principal Matt Gilbert announced Most Improved Students at a school-wide assembly.

Gilbert said, “Thanks to the Portland Sea Dogs we are able to recognize students who have improved their performance. Your teachers nominated you for this award.”

He read from the certificate, “The Portland Sea Dogs are honoring area students who have displayed the greatest amount of improvement in their school endeavors. This selection is not based solely on academic achievement, but factors such as development or improvement in behavioral and social aspects. Congratulations!”

When all the students arrived on stage in Muskie Auditorium, the line stretched from one wall to the other.

Most Improved Students from the senior class are Dakota Hoff, Joshua Rainey and Jake Ricci.

The juniors include Mackenzie McInnis, Breanna Morgan, Abbey Pinkham, Alicia Provencher, Katie Puiia, Natalie Scott, Everett Smalley, Jacob Thornton and Alyssa Vaughn.

Sophomores include Arthur Albanesi, Caleb Arsenault, Jared Arsenault, Logan Benedix, Nathan Billings, Nicholas Billings, Cody Cunningham, Caleb Gauvin, Tyler Giambattista, Tim Haas, Griffin Hamel, Christie Johnson, Katerina Kuralt, Josh Mason, Jordon Parent, Kristin Richard and Shoshanah Selleck.

From the freshman class are Shawna Bielawski, Logan Child, Kyle Cote, Alexis Edwards, Random Gurney, Dellshawn Harris, Kylee Hentschel, Shania Jones, Kayla Lauzier, Ben Marston, Michael Provencher, Kayla Sinclair and Dakota White.

According to the Portland Sea Dogs website, “The [Most Improved] student selected receives a complimentary ticket to a game and is presented a certificate from the Sea Dogs recognizing their accomplishment. The students are recognized in a pre-game ceremony and have their name displayed on the outfield scoreboard.”
