We have discussed the demolition of St. Louis Church, our church, extensively.

Our grandparents and parents helped us with our first communion, confirmation of our faith and wedding. And, in turn, we did the same for our children and they do the same for their children today.

We both attended St. Louis School. We have many very good memories of laughter and joy, dancing and a great many meals in the parish hall in the basement. This was just a happy place for all of us.

We have shed tears at the loss of those senior family members, but they went through Jesus to see God.

We have listened to the analysis of the building and that the best is to raze it. It is sad. More tears will be shed. Some will be angry and others disillusioned.

We have those prized photos of baptisms, communions, confirmations and, best of all, our wedding. In addition to the photos we have all the memories.

The building may be torn down but our faith is stronger than ever. We are certainly very fortunate to have Father Rick and Father Rob to help guide this sad process. This must also be very sad for them both.

Now, we the people of the New Auburn St. Louis, will walk hand-in-hand to a different building, but we are still a parish community. Just as strong and as united people can ever be.

We are going to give thanks to all the old folks who made St. Louis alive for us.

Richard and Monette Valcourt, Auburn
