1930 – 2013

BUXTON — Elizabeth Pauline Foley, 82, formerly of Buxton, more recently of New Gloucester, passed away on April 18, at the home of her daughter, Mary, in New Gloucester.

She was born in Plainfield, N.J., on April 28, 1930, the oldest daughter of the late Thomas and Mary (Coyne) Vesey.

After graduating from Plainfield High School, Elizabeth went on marry her beloved late husband, Thomas A. Foley. In 1978, after many summers vacationing in Norway, they decided to move the family and open The Foley Frame Shop in Oxford, which they ran for over 30 years.

She was an accomplished painter, frequently participating in the Maine Migratory Waterfowl Stamp Art Contest, and created a large loon painting that hung in the Kennebunk Welcome Center for several years. She enjoyed photography, woodcarvings, quilting, and was an avid reader and collector of teapots.

Elizabeth and her husband were founding members of the Maine Woodcarvers Association.

Elizabeth is survived by her daughter, Mary O’Clair and her husband, Vic, of New Gloucester; sons, Thomas Foley and his wife, Cindy, of Colorado, and Michael Foley and his wife, Kathleen, of New Jersey; sister, Marion Waldron of Pennsylvania; six grandchildren, Jason, Thomas, Shaun, Shannon, Cari and Paige; and great-grandchildren, Caiden, Madisynn, Alexis, Kaileigh, Gage and Caleb.

She is predeceased by her husband, Thomas A. Foley; and a sister, Margaret Vesey.
