FARMINGTON — George R. Perry Jr., 92, of Farmington, passed away at Orchard Park Rehabilitation and Living Center during the early afternoon of Friday, April 19, with his daughter and son-in-law by his side.

He was born in September 1920 in Bath, the son of George and Madlyn Perry Sr. George enlisted in the U.S. Army at a young age and received his GED. He was stationed in Germany, Hawaii and Kansas and participated in World War II, Vietnam and Korea. He had been promoted to the rank of first sergeant before he retired after 20 years of service.

George worked in Bath at George R. Perry Monument Co. and eventually took it over when his father retired, relocating the business as the sole owner and craftsman to Rockland and later to Farmington, where he also resided. He later relocated the business to West Peru until his retirement.

In his former years, George’s passions were riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle, spending time deep sea fishing in his White boat and hunting. He also enjoyed cooking, working out, had an affinity for vehicles, was a dog lover and an avid bird watcher. George was a people person and always had a ready smile for customers, friends and family. He was a caring and giving man with a deep faith in God.

They are expecting their first child, a son, named Everest Rudolph Martin, on Sept. 2. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews; and former wives, Dorothy Perry and Enid Perry respectively. Special thanks to his niece, Elizabeth Cram and husband, Dwight Cram of Phillips, for visiting and watching over him.
