AUBURN — France L. Poussard, 89, of Lewiston, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 20, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice Services, after a short stay.
She was born in Lewiston, Oct. 3, 1923, the daughter of Esdras and Georgianna Prevost Larrivee. She married Arthur Poussard, Dec. 31, 1941. Art and Fran raised their seven children in Sabattus until 1967, when they moved to Lewiston.
Art and Fran were the founders of Poussard’s Texaco on Sabattus Road, as well as Fran’s Dairy Treat. They retired and wintered in Florida, for many years.
Fran was an avid seamstress, enjoyed crafts and cooking, and loved visits from family and friends. She was happiest when she was feeding company. She looked forward to weekly prayer visits with Barbara Mathy.
Fran is survived by her seven children, Arthur Jr. and wife, Teri, of Sabattus, Rayne and wife, Connie, of Baltimore, Md., Dorothy and husband, Alfred Smith, of Lisbon Falls, Donald and wife, Susan, of Greene, Reginald and wife, Claire, of Lewiston, Susan McKay and friend, Leo Lemay, of Lewiston and Diann and husband, James King, of Lewiston; she was proud of her 17 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Arthur Poussard Sr.; and her 12 siblings.
She had a great sense of humor and will be missed by many.
