OXFORD — Laurier Francis “Larry” Fournier, 82, died at home Sunday, April 21, with his wife Jeanette by his side.

He was born Jan. 29, 1931, in Jay, of Adelard and Diana (Simoneau) Fournier. Larry was a graduate of Jay High School and of The Auburn

Maine School of Commerce with a degree in accounting. He worked for Sanborn’s Motor Express in Oxford for 12 years before owning The Handy Store in South Paris. He retired in 1980, and moved to Arizona, for the winters and summered on Norway Lake.

Larry was a former member of the Knights of Columbus, The Lions Club, and supported several athletic teams including stock cars at the Speedway in Oxford. He was an avid golfer and former member at the Norway Country Club in Norway and Wickenburg Country Club in Wickenburg, Ariz. At one time, he was sponsored by both Ping and Daiwa golf companies. Larry enjoyed snowmobiling with family and friends from the Snowhoppers Snowmobile Club which he belonged to. Larry’s motto was “I Can Do It, So Can You!”

He is survived by his wife, Jeanette of 56 years; daughter, Kathy Brigham and her husband, Peter, sons, Dennis Fournier and fiancé, Lisa Annance and Ken Fournier and his wife, Debbie; eight grandchildren, Nathan Brigham and his wife, Emily, Alyssa Hamel and her husband, Chris, Jason Fournier, Jenna Fair, Monet Fournier, Ashley Fournier, Sarah Fournier and Sam Fournier; one great-granddaughter, Alexis Fair; one surviving brother, Adrian Fournier; two sisters, Jill Deane and Ann Cyr; and several nieces and nephews, who loved him dearly.

He was predeceased by his mother and father; brothers, Rene, Robert, Lawrence, Norman and George; and sisters, Joan, Rita and Marie.
