On Wednesday, April 10, there was a story about stabbings that took place in Cypress, Texas, at the Lone Star Community College campus.
We have horrible killings everywhere with every type of gun and now we have the stabbings. Where does it end?
The government wants to take away our right to bear arms by slashing the Second Amendment. Will it now attempt to do the same for knives?
Should we have stricter registration rules? Will I have to register my knives and have a background check done if I want to buy a knife to cut my steak? It might help.
It could curb those people who should not be bearing arms from possessing them. But we must remember knives are also dangerous, yet airlines want to ease restrictions for having knives on their flights. That opens the door to safety issues.
I feel, no, I know I have the right to bear arms and a knife. I use them for specific reasons. If some day I was assessed that I should not use these items then I would not.
Law enforcement agencies should prevent the use of guns by only those who should not bear arms. Not those of us who know right from wrong and just want to protect ourselves from those who want to do us harm.
Proper background checks can help deter disturbed people from misuse. But it has to take place by not allowing people into our country without background checks, also.
