Phoenix Academy offers summer camp
Phoenix Academy of Martial Arts in Auburn offers a summer camp with a unique look into the martial arts. This is a great way to see if the martial arts are a good fit for your child or to enhance the training your child is already receiving.
At this week long day camp, your child will do more than learn “karate moves”. Your childwill also learn the history of Karate and the story of Gichin Funakoshi and other great fathers of the arts. They will discover the difference between real Karate and TV Karate as we create our own “made for TV” Karate skit.
They will go on a nature hike and explore how animals and insects practice self-defense. They will be challenged to think outside the box and discover hidden self defense techniques within traditional katas, participate in anti-bully training, learn the art of mediation and even water training at the YWCA in Lewiston and play a kickball game using only traditional karate kicks.
It is sure to be a week of fun and enlightenment. Classes are taught by owners Donna and Harry Harris as well as some of their student instructors.
