LIVERMORE FALLS — When voters head to the polls June 11, they will be asked if they favor leaving Androscoggin County and joining Franklin County.

Selectmen will hold a public hearing at 6:30 p.m. Monday, April 29, at the Town Office on that article and 43 others on the warrant.

Several of the referendum articles are related to the selectmen’s proposed $2.25 million municipal budget, which is $45,774 less than the current budget.

Article 45, if approved, starts the process to let town officials explore changing counties.

Other articles on the warrant will ask voters if they want to use up to $18,000 from a capital improvement account to buy a new furnace for the Public Works Garage. The current furnace is more than 30 years old and not working properly.

Another article asks voters if they would take $8,600 from surplus to buy snow-grooming equipment for the Jug Hill Riders Snowmobile Club. The money would be repaid over a four-year period.

Voters will also consider withdrawing $32,000 from surplus to build a sidewalk on Park Street as part of the bike/pedestrian path on Foundry Road. The sidewalk would go from the corner of Foundry Road toward town and end near Birch Street.

Townspeople approved $20,000 for the town’s share of a grant last year but since then the price has increased. The grant is for $260,250 from the Maine Department of Transportation and the town’s share is $52,050. If the project is more than the grant, the town would be responsible for the overage, Town Manager Kristal Flagg told selectmen on April 16.

If the town were to build the sidewalk on its own it would cost $100,000 or more, she said.

Four ordinances are also on the warrant to address consumer fireworks use in town, changeable signs, floodplain management and property maintenance.
