DEAR SUN SPOTS: I would like to have the words to the old song: “If you’re ever up a tree, think of me.” That is all I remember of it. I do not know the title. Thank you. — No Name, Lisbon

ANSWER: Are you thinking of the song Lucy and Ethel sang on “I Love Lucy?” It is called “Friendship” and is from the Cole Porter musical “Anything Goes.”

The lyrics are available on several websites and differ slightly. On metrolyrics.com, Sun Spots found:

If your ever in a jam, here I am

If your ever in a mess, SOS

If you ever feel so happy you land in jail, I’m your bail

It’s friendship, friendship

Just a perfect blendship

When other friendships have been forgot, ours will still be hot

Lah-dle, ah-dle, ah-dle, dig, dig, dig

If your ever up a tree, phone to me

If your ever down a well, ring my bell

If you ever lose your teeth and your out to dine, borrow mine

Just a perfect blendship

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Do you know of any Amway distributors in the Lewiston-Auburn or surrounding towns? I would like to order. Thank you. — No Name, Auburn

ANSWER: Sun Spots does not. Readers?

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Thank you for such an informative column. I have used your helpful information many times over the years! Your April 6 column involved a question about curbside pickup of compostable garbage in the Auburn area, and mentioned that in Portland they have such a service.

The company that does this in the Portland area, I believe, is called Garbage to Garden (http://garbagetogarden.org). They do it by subscription service and even provide special washed buckets with every pickup.

I think it’s a wonderful idea for the Lewiston-Auburn area. Perhaps Garbage to Garden could be convinced to send a weekly truck up there if they got enough subscribers from the L/A area. If not, perhaps someone in L/A should start doing it. — lu_hennings_manter@yahoo.com
