SOUTH PARIS — Alvar J. Immonen, 95, of South Paris, died Wednesday, April 24, at Market Square Health Care Center.

He was born in Waterford on June 19, 1917, the son of Jack and Olga Idstrom Immonen. He attended schools in Sumner and Newport, N.H. and faithfully served in the U. S. Army during World War II. Alvar married Tyyne Heikkinen on September 27, 1945.

Alvar was employed as an auto technician for Ripley & Fletcher Ford for many years. He was a member of the Mission Congregational Church, the VFW, Floyd A. Harlow Jr. Post #9787 in South Paris and the Finnish American Heritage Society.

He is survived by his son, Jeffrey of Raymond, N.H.; a sister-in-law, Cynthia Immonen of South Paris; and two grandchildren, Jared and Sarah.

He was predeceased by his brother, William E. Immonen.
