HOPE — Hope Elephants announces the selection of Steve Mortimer of Poland as executive director. Effective immediately, Mortimer will focus on broadening the donor base and securing funding to ensure that Hope Elephants can meet its immediate needs and achieve its longer-term goals.

Hope Elephants is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization providing state-of-the-art rehabilitation services to resident injured and aging elephants.

Mortimer has led operations for large corporations and driven strategic initiatives for small nonprofits. Most recently, Mortimer led the class-based fundraising programs for his alma mater, Bates College. He will work closely with a team of volunteers whose professional skills and personal passions are integral to the organization’s survival and growth.

Hope Elephants provides a unique and caring home to injured and aging elephants as well as educational programs that inspire visitors to participate in wildlife conservation. The elephant barn and paddock, extensive nutritional support, specialized veterinary care, broad-based educational programs, and the support services allowing all of this to happen, cost about $25,000 per month, making Mortimer’s job a challenging one.
