AUBURN — Fern Desjardin passed away at her Auburn home on April 28 after a long battle with cancer.

She was born in Lewiston on Dec. 8, 1935, the daughter of Dominique and Muriel (Minihane) Tardif.
Fern was a member of Lewiston High School’s Class of ‘53 and attended Gorham State Teacher’s College. She married Ronald Desjardin of Lewiston in 1959. 
Fern was an active member of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority for 58 years and also belonged to the Red Hat Society, Woman’s Literary Union and Auburn Art Club. She was also active in the former St. Joseph’s Catholic Parish in Lewiston, where she lectured at masses. After many years as an employee of Porteous in Auburn, she worked in the admissions office at Bates College for 17 years before retiring in 2004.

She is survived by her three children, Clement “Skip” Desjardin of West Hartford, Conn., Beth Flynn of Auburn and Thomas Desjardin of Pittsfield. She also leaves a brother, D.J. Tardif Jr. of Rockport, Mass. and a sister, Patricia Crowley of Yarmouth; along with six grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
