DEAR SUN SPOTS: We are very grateful for your help in promoting our annual fundraiser. Catholic Financial Life, formerly Union Saint-Jean-Baptiste Chapter Ste. Croix No. 413, is inviting area residents to join them in our annual family bottle drive to benefit Fr. Marc Boisvert’s Hope Village in Haiti.

Free The Kids.org is a nonprofit organization founded by Father Marc, a former U.S. Navy chaplain who has dedicated his life to Haitian orphans. Project Hope (Pwoje Espwa) takes care of more than 800 orphans, providing shelter, medical care, education and a soup kitchen. This year donations are down by 40 percent due to other crises throughout the world.

To find out more about Father Marc’s orphanage, check out his blog at  pwojeespwa.blogspot.com

With the help of area donors, our chapter is hoping to raise enough money to receive matching funds from Catholic Financial Life. Last year, our joint efforts brought in $6200. We need your continued support. Please save your bottles from May 1 to 31. Kindly redeem your bottles and send us a check by June 10. Cash donations are also very much appreciated.

Father Marc Boisvert, OMI, is a Lewiston native. Let’s support his mission. You can make a difference in the lives of these poor orphans.

Please make checks payable to Catholic Financial Life Chapter N413, c/o Jean Gastonguay, president, 237 Pleasant St., Lewiston, ME 04240. — Jean Gastonguay, jmgartist@gmail.com

DEAR SUN SPOTS: For the Mechanic Falls reader who has been collecting stamps for Sister Gilberte Boisvert, I know a sister in Waterville who would appreciate the stamps if no one else requests them.

These can be delivered at the Dominican Sisters’ convent in Sabattus, and I will make sure that the stamps reach their destination. It would be a shame indeed to throw those out. Thank you for your concern. — Sister Lucille Fournier, 61 Lisbon Road, Sabattus, ME 04280-4209, 375-8399, lfournier@sabattusdominicans.org

DEAR SUN SPOTS: We are looking for a chaplain, either active or retired, who served in the Korean War, or at least served in Korea, for our ceremony of the 60th anniversary of the Korean War at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 27, at Lewiston Veterans Memorial Park.

There will be several speakers, a short memorial service and a presentation of Korean medals, plus several displays from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. — Bert Dutil, 786-2305, badutil32@yahoo.com

DEAR SUN SPOTS: From 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 4 Jody’s Weekend Warriors will once again hold its annual Relay for Life yard sale.

Relay for Life is a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. Cancer never sleeps, so the goal at relay is to have a team member on the track walking all through the night.

This is the sixth year that the Warriors have participated. The team was started by Erica, who wanted to find a way to honor her dad, who passed away from the disease. Although our team is small, we have raised more than $12,000.

The yard sale will be held at 420 Ridge Road in Lisbon with a rain date of May 11. Donations are welcome. For more information, contact Erica at 212-3713 or me. — Trudy Duval, 353-8579, Gduval3@roadrunner.com
