BUCKFIELD — Abby Abbott hit a pair of singles and tripled, and winning pitcher Taylor Esty (10 strikeouts) and Michaela Shorey each had three hits as Rangeley rolled to a 14-7 victory in a softball game Tuesday.
The Lakers (1-2) erupted with seven runs in the sixth inning. For Buckfield (2-1), Samantha Zak had two singles and scored four runs, and Arabine Dunn smacked two hits.
Leavitt 12, Waterville 4
WATERVILLE — Melissa Richardson belted a double and Emily Perkins led the team with three hits as Leavitt Area High School topped Waterville 12-4 in KVAC softball action Tuesday.
Sierra Santamango also had a pair of hits for the Hornets, while Michelle Morin earned the win in the circle.
Mary Pellerin and Casey Devogt each had a triple for Waterville.
Boys’ lacrosse
Lincoln Academy 15, Mt. Blue 9
FARMINGTON — Jonathan Riley had four goals and Ben Stone added another four and collected three assists as Lincoln Academy took down Mt. Blue with a 15-9 victory in a boys’ lacrosse game Tuesday.
For Mt. Blue, Ryan Rouillard scored three goals, and teammates JT Williams and Sam Taylor each had two.
Baseball
Waterville 12, Leavitt 1
WATERVILLE — Waterville used 10 hits and erupted with six runs in the fourth inning as Waterville landed on Leavitt with a 12-1 victory in a five-run baseball game Tuesday.
Alan Wood had three hits, including a triple, and drove in five runs for the Purple Panthers. Aidan Fitzgerald smacked a double and drove in two runs.
For Leavitt, Tyler Hutchinson had two hits and drove in the team’s only run.
College baseball
USM 9, Bowdoin 4
GORHAM— Senior Nick Grady and junior Troy Thibodeau each had two hits and scored two runs, and freshman right-hander Shyler Scates tossed six innings to lead the University of Southern Maine Huskies past the Bowdoin College Polar Bears 9-4 in a non-conference game at USM Baseball Stadium Tuesday afternoon.
Grady led the Huskies’ 10-hit attack with two hits, including a double, and two RBI. Thibodeau hit his second home run of the season and to record his 10th multiple-hit game of the season. Junior Matt Verrier of Norway hit his third home run of the season in the eighth. Freshman Sam Dexter also had two hits.
Colby sweeps UMF
FARMINGTON — Colby College rallied to win game one and held off a University of Maine at Farmington rally in game two, sweeping the Beavers 2-1 and 10-6 in a non-conference baseball doubleheader Tuesday at Hippach Field.
In Game 2, Farmington got three runs back in the home half of the fifth thanks to on an RBI double by Matt Woodbury and singles from Zach Keene and Ben Keene of Livemore Falls — all with one out. Colby reliever Daniel Csaplar induced a line out to third and a ground out to shortstop, getting the Mules out of the bases loaded jam.

GORHAM 1 Juniors Adam Whitman and Corey Dyke of Monmouth gutted out a 9-7 win at first doubles to lead the University of Southern Maine Huskies to a 5-0 win over the Rhode Island College Anchormen in a Little East Conference men’s tennis tournament quarterfinal match Tuesday afternoon.
