1979 – 2013

PACE, Fla. — Bobby Roy, 33, of Florida, was unexpectedly taken from us on Sunday, April 28, in Pace, Fla., where he was stationed.

Bobby was born on Sept. 17, 1979, in Lewiston, and was a graduate of Lisbon High School, Class of 1997. Bobby was a chief petty officer and proud to serve his country for almost 16 years in the United States Navy.

Bobby pledged to serve God and his country from an early age. He grew up participating in the Sea Cadets Corps program at the NAS in Brunswick. After graduating from high school, he officially joined the Navy and was stationed to the newest aircraft carrier at the time, CVN 75 Harry S. Truman. During his tenure on the Truman, he was temporarily placed on CVN-71 Theodore Roosevelt to assist in the Kosovo conflict. During his career in the Navy, he has been stationed at Brunswick Naval Air Base, CVN 69 Dwight D. Eisenhower, CVN 77 George H.W. Bush, CVN 70 Carl Vinson and most recently, NAS Whiting Field, outside of Pensacola, Fla.

It was during his time served in Brunswick where he met and fell in love with his wife, Jessica Heino Roy. They were married in 2004 and have two amazing boys, Christian Michael Keith and Brady Joseph Jean. The boys were Bobby’s life, and he was excited to get shore duty so he could be there for his children. He loved coaching their baseball teams and teaching them numerous sports and life lessons.

Bobby was an avid dart player and won numerous tournaments and accolades in the sport. He also loved to play softball and always found a team to play on at every command.

Bobby was an amazing drummer, and a sixteen-piece drum kit was no match for him. Bobby could sit down at any drum kit, with any band, and play. His dream was to play alongside his favorite drummer, Carter Beauford of the Dave Matthews Band.

Family was everything to Bobby. He spoke of them to everyone he met — from his love of his parents, to his pride in his brother and sister. No matter how you knew Bobby, he always left an everlasting impression on your soul.

Bobby is survived by his wife, Jessica Heino Roy; two sons, Christian Michael Keith and Brady Joseph Jean; his parents, Jane and Don Rivard of Lisbon; a brother, Ricky Rivard of San Diego, Calif.; a sister, Ashley Rivard and her partner, Andrew Faucher, of Lewiston; a grandmother, Joan Sweeney; and godparents, Michael and Priscille Parrot of Lewiston. Bobby leaves behind a very large family of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends that he loved, cherished and held dear to his heart.

He was predeceased by his father, Robert Roy; brother, Michael Paul Roy; his mémère and pépère, Rose Roy and Herve J. Roy; his mémère and pépère, Cecile and Laurent Rivard; aunts, Cathy Heath and Theresa Goding, as well as many other close family members and friends.
