AUBURN — Mark W. Ramsdell, 55, of Knox St., Rumford, passed away Thursday, May 2, at the Hospice House in Auburn, after a long, courageous battle with cancer.
He was born in Saco on April 24, 1958, the son of Malcolm and Marion (Pierce) Ramsdell. He grew up in Waterboro and attended Massabesic High School. He moved to the Rumford area 28 years ago, where he was a logger by trade, working for many local logging companies.

Mark enjoyed NASCAR races and watching his favorite teams, the New England Patriots and the Boston Red Sox. Mark was a special guest at Fenway Park, even enjoying a private suite to watch the game. A personal message was displayed in the New Balance sign that read, “Boston Red Sox welcomes Mark Ramsdell and family to Fenway Park.” He also loved spending time with his granddaughter Riley.
Survivors include his wife, Gerry Day; stepsons Brandon Windover, and James Windover and wife, Cathy, of Rumford; a special granddaughter, Riley Mae Windover, of Rumford; brothers, Vernon Ramsdell of Alfred, Jeffrey Ramsdell of Springvale, and Matthew Ramsdell of Waterboro; and a sister, Sharon Contois of Embden and formerly of Waterboro.
