LEWISTON — Shanna Rogers has joined Community Concepts as the new community developer.

She will be responsible for leading Community Concepts’ collective action strategies toward reducing the conditions of poverty and improving health and economic opportunity. That will include sustaining and creating relationships with the nonprofit, business, public sectors, people with lived experience and taking a leadership role in group formation and action planning.

Rogers will lead the Lewiston and Auburn Citizen Advisory Board efforts. She will stimulate and support leadership skills and opportunities of Lewiston and Auburn’s downtown residents through role modeling, coaching, education, training and mentoring leadership opportunities. Rogers will provide leadership opportunities for residents who will be able to develop the confidence to participate with local community collaboratives, and stimulate the two resident advisory boards to create bylaws, learn about and teach other sectors about community issues and solutions.

Rogers was the founder of Lewiston’s Neighborhood Housing League, a program of The Visible Community, now a program of the Maine People’s Alliance. In that position and in her previous role with Healthy Androscoggin, Rogers gained a wealth of expertise for community organizing, community engagement and teaching and coaching leadership skills.

Rogers is a current board member of Androscoggin Head Start and Healthy Androscoggin, and co-chairwoman of the New Mainer Community Collaborative. She is a former Community Concepts board member and a former advisory board member for the Neighborhood Housing League. She has senior standing for her bachelor of science degree in environmental and community planning.

She lives in downtown Lewiston.
