100 years ago, 1913
What will the people of Lisbon do? How can they ever spend their income? All five of the clubs are closing up tight with only ginger ale, cream soda, blood orange and a few bottles of Uno and every pool room in the town closed. Seven licenses to run pool rooms were applied for Monday afternoon and not a one granted. The selectmen continued the hearing to July 5, when they would give all sides a chance to be heard. There has been a good deal of talk regarding the way the pool rooms have been run and a large number of people have registered a protest with the municipal officers against the renewal of these licenses.

50 years ago, 1963
The lack of a municipal parking lot was today given as a reason for Lewiston city employees receiving so many parking tickets and having them voided by the Traffic Department, with the explanation that city employees who had their tickets voided last year “were on official business” when tagged. It was reported that 3,517 traffic tags were voiced in 1962, and at least 1,714 were placed on vehicles of city employees, resulting in uncollected fines amounting to $857, at 50 cents a ticket.

25 years ago, 1988
The Mid-Maine Waste Action Corporation in Auburn will allow towns in the Bath-Brunswick waste district to join the cooperative and dump their trash at the plant in exchange for an agreement with Central Maine Power Co.
