LEWISTON — Roger A. Lessard, 77, of Lewiston passed away Wednesday, May 1, at CMMC.

He was born in Lewiston on Sept. 24, 1935, a son of the late Romeo and Mabel (Corneau) Lessard. He grew up in the Lewiston area and attended local schools. Roger was a graduate of Lewiston High School and later attended the University of Maine for real estate. He became a real estate broker for Century 21 shortly thereafter.

From 1953 to 1964, Roger served on active duty in the Maine Army National Guard. He was stationed at Fort Campbell in Kentucky for 10 months during the Berlin Crisis and the Bay of Pigs.

After being honorably discharged from the military, Roger was a shoe shop cutting room foreman for 14 years and a shoe cutter for 30 years. Roger worked in office maintenance for B.I.W. since 1982, as well. He also was a salesman for Fuller Brush-Amway. Roger was a member of Holy Family Church and the Knights of Columbus Council 10, 019 4th degree. He was also a member of ACA (Association Canado-Américaine), the Pastime Club and cribbage league, Lewiston Senior Citizens and cribbage league, and a past member of the American Legion Post 22 for 21 years.

Roger was an avid horseshoe player, bowler, both ten pins and candle pin, and camper. He enjoyed taking trips, dancing, tracing geneology, listening to country music and oldies, as well as visiting family and friends.

He is survived by his longtime companion of nine years, Therese Morneault of Sabattus; his two daughters, Dorothy Bazinet and her husband, Michael, and Linda Beaudoin and her husband, Randy, all of Lewiston; two sisters, Lucille Morissette and her husband, Edward, of Lewiston, and Rita DeForge and her husband, Leo, of Greene. He also leaves behind five grandchildren, Jason and Leanne Bazinet, Tabitha Beauchesne, Tiffany Barter and Jessica McClintock; four great-grandchildren, Bobby and Jazmin Bernier and Dylan and Sadie Lynn Beauchesne; as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his loving wife of 42 years, Yvette; a son, Edward Lessard; and three brothers, Roland, Marcel and Bert.
