ST. ALBANS/PALMYRA — The Maine Old Cemetery Association plans a workshop on gravestone care on May 11 as well as its first 2013 program day and meeting on May 18.
The Town of St. Albans, in conjunction with MOCA, will hold a hands-on workshop on Saturday, May 11, at a St. Albans’ cemetery. Participants will learn how to correctly clean gravestones and how to straighten leaning tablet stones. The workshop will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The town office is open on Monday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Tuesday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Those planning to attend must preregister with the St. Albans Town Office. A limited number of spaces are available.
The MOCA program day and meeting will take place Saturday, May 18, at the Palmyra Community Center, 4 Madawaska Road, off Route 2. The public is invited.
Featured speakers will be Don Hill, local historian, who at 9:15 will present “A Walk Through Some Palmyra History via Historical Mural;” Ann Foss, president of the Palmyra Historical Society, whose 9:45 presentation will be about her self-designed comprehensive system for recording cemetery information; and at 11:30 Nat Foss, secretary of the Palmyra Historical Society, will present an illustrated overview of Palmyra cemeteries.
The Palmyra Historical Society is the hosting group. From 8:30 a.m. there will be exhibits and displays. Attendees are invited to display information about cemetery-related projects.
In the afternoon there will be a tour of some Palmyra cemeteries.
Registration cost is $3 at the door. Lunch reservation deadline is May 10 and those wishing to order lunch, which is $7, should reserve by contacting Ann Foss at 207-938-2947.
