AUBURN — Josephine M. Bernier, 97, of Clover Manor, 440 Minot Ave., died Saturday, May 4, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice.
She was born in Keegan, Feb. 6, 1916, the daughter of the late Willie and Anna Hebert Tardif.
Josephine was a member of the Prince of Peace Parish at Holy Cross Church, Holy Cross Seniors, and was married to George Bernier, who died Dec. 2, 1966. She enjoyed reading, doing jigsaw puzzles and her visits on the porch at Clover.
She will be remembered for having the best recipe for homemade spaghetti sauce and meatballs, which has been handed down as a family secret.
She is survived by two daughters, Joline McPowell of Fortuna, Calif., and Patricia Thomas of Arcadia, Fla.; her son, Victor Bernier and wife, Pauline, of Arcadia, Fla.; five grandsons; several great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Agatha Rolerson of Falmouth; and many nieces and nephews.
She was also predeceased by four sisters; and two brothers.
The family wishes to thank Clover Manor for lovingly taking care of Jo for so many years and the Hospice House for their wonderful care and support the last three days of her life.
