POOLESVILLE, Md. — Dorothy Fern Somers, 93, wife of the late Leslie Robert Somers of Passumpsic, Vt., and St. Johnsbury Academy, Class of 1934, died on April 18, at their home in Poolesville, Md.

She was born in Lincoln. She graduated from business school in Bangor and met Leslie there, who managed the JJ Newbury Store. They resided most of their married life in Lebanon, N.H. Dorothy worked at Mary Hitchcock Hospital, the Dartmouth College Physics Department and Naval ROTC Department and the VA hospital in White River Junction.

Dorothy loved her family, her work, skiing, golfing, camping and dancing at Barden’s Barn. Dorothy and Leslie were active members of the Congregational Church, the Masons and the Eastern Star.

She is survived by her two daughters, Deanna Somers of Kernersville, N.C., and Cheryl King and husband, Robert, of Moultonborough, N.H.; her five grandchildren, Heidi Frears and husband, Roger, of Mayville, N.C., Kristen Tavernier of Kernersville, N.C., Steven King and wife, Rebecca, of Boyds, Md., and Jonathan King and Katherine King of Germantown, Md.; her 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

She was predeceased her husband of 67 years, Leslie Somers; and her sister, Mazie Silvester of Vermont.
