AUBURN — Community Little Theatre Director Mitchell Clyde Thomas has announced the cast of CLT’s upcoming production of Neil Simon’s “The Odd Couple.” The fourth show of CLT’s 73rd season will run from June 7-16. The show’s assistant director is Pat Freestone Phillips and the producer is Nakesha “Kay” Myrick.
This classic comedy opens as a group of guys assemble for cards in the apartment of divorced slob “Oscar Madison,” played by a CLT favorite comedic actor, Roger Philippon of Lewiston. Late to arrive is “Felix Unger” who has just been separated from his wife. The fastidious, depressed and none too tense Felix is played by CLT newcomer, Eric Brakey of New Gloucester. As the action unfolds, the clean-freak and the slob ultimately decide to room together with hilarious results, as the odd couple is born.
The other characters include Oscar and Felix’s poker buddies. “Murray” is a retired New York Police Department policeman, played by CLT veteran actor, Phil Vampatella of New Gloucester. “Speed” is gruff and sarcastic, often picking on others, and is played by another popular comedic actor, Jason Pelletier of Lewiston. “Vinnie,” mild-mannered and henpecked, is played by Paul Menezes of Lewiston, a local actor making his CLT debut. “Roy,” who is Oscar’s accountant, is played by Bernie Button of Auburn who is appearing in his first show since moving to Maine from Texas. “Cecily” and “Gwendolyn,” the Pigeon sisters, Oscar and Felix’s upstairs British neighbors, will be played by Pat Freestone Phillips of Auburn, and Andrea Quaid of Lewiston. Both have appeared in previous CLT productions.
