ROCKY HILL, Conn. — Harold D. Campbell, 87, recently of Rocky Hill, Conn., and formerly of Auburn, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 7, at the Apple Rehabilitation Facility.

He was born in Hyde Park, Mass., June 7, 1925, to Ethel (Hatfield) Campbell and David Campbell. He lived most of his life in Auburn, with his late wife, Laura.

Harold retired from Bates College in 1986 after serving 16 years as the college accountant. Prior to joining Bates College, he was employed by the Portland Press Herald and the Boston Post. He obtained his education after serving in the Army during World War II.

He was a former member of United Baptist Church and a past patron of Mt. Olivet Chapter, OES. Harold enjoyed entertaining and cooking was one of his true passions, especially for the holidays.

He is survived by his daughter, Deborah E. Campbell; two grandchildren, Jacob and Alexxa Harris, all of Ellington, Conn., (formerly of Greene); and nieces and nephews.

Harold was predeceased by his wife of 46 years, Laura S. Campbell.
