YARMOUTH — Marjorie A. Steele, 92, of Meadow Road, Woolwich, died Sunday, April 28, at the Coastal Manor.

She was born in Old Town, Aug. 16, 1920, the daughter of Clarence and Melvina Howard Brett.

Marjorie was a homemaker and enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening. Marjorie also enjoyed going to her lodge meetings.

She took her degree of the Pocahontas in 1948, was a past member of the Pocahontas Association and had been a member of the Great Council of United States Pocahontas in 1957. In 1964 Marjorie was a member of the Great Council of Maine. She was also a past Great Pocahontas in the state of Maine and was a member of the National Degree of Pocahontas. In 1963, she joined the Queen Esther Rebekah Lodge.

For many years, Victor and Karen Leeman, served as caregivers to Marjorie.

She is survived by two grandchildren, Cynthia Schafer and Ginny Philbrick; and two great-grandchildren, James and Danielle Schafer.

She was predeceased by her husband, Lewis Hanson Steele in 2000; and three sons. Clarence “Butch” Miller, Carl Hanson Steele and Lewis Steele Jr.
