1947 – 2013

POLAND —   Robert “Mike” Paul Bedard, 65, of Poland, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday, May 7.

He was born in Lowell, Mass., on June 19, 1947, the eldest son of Raymond A. and Claire (Breton) Bedard. He was educated in Dracut, Mass.

Mike joined the United States Marine Corps in 1964 and proudly served two tours in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged in 1968.  He loved to drive race cars and hunt and fish with his boys. He was an avid NASCAR fan and liked watching the Boston Red Sox.

He worked at Raytheon and Purity Supreme in Massachusetts before moving to Otisfield in the early 1980s with his sons, Robert and Michael. Many family cookouts and celebrations took place at the Bedard residence by Crooked River.

After moving to Maine, Mike worked at Community Concepts and Maine Machine Shop.

On April 20, 1985, he married his soul mate, Lynda (Verrill) Bedard of Norway. Mike often drove to Bowling Green, Ky., where he and Lynda planned to retire and be near their grandchildren. 

He leaves behind his wife of 28 years, Lynda, of Poland; two sons, Robert and his wife, Sadeta, of Bowling Green, Ky., and Michael of Brandon, Fla.; two grandsons, Denis Hodzic and Allen Bedard of Bowling Green, Ky.; a brother, David, of Massachusetts; two sisters, Pat Poland of West Paris and Barbara Bedard of Auburn; a special cousin, Rudy Lessard and his wife, Kate, of Hudson, N.H.; along with a large, loving extended family of cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; and a brother, Dennis.
