LEWISTON — A memorial Mass of Christian Burial honoring the life Maurice J. Dionne Sr., was celebrated Monday by the Rev. Stephen Concannon at Holy Cross Church of the Prince of Peace Parish. During Mass, Maurice’s granndaughter, Rebecca Hill read from scripture, Maurice’s daughter-in-law, Rita Dionne recited the prayer of the faithful. The offertory gifts were brought to the altar by daughters-in-law, Cathy Dionne and Rita Dionne. Following a procession to St. Peter’s Cemetery, Father Concannon recited committal prayers concluding with the U.S. Air Force Honor Detail playing “taps” and presenting our country’s flag to Maurice’s wife, Bertha in recognition of her husband’s service to his country during World War II. The urn bearers were Ashley Dionne, Andrew and Rebecca Hill as well as Alex Weirs. At the conclusion of services, all were invited to a reception of fellowship at Marco’s Restaurant.
