SUMNER — Christine M. Ayer, 70, of Sumner, passed away peacefully at home in her sleep in the early hours of the new dawn, Monday, May 13, after a long illness.
She was born in Lewiston, Aug. 28, 1942, the daughter of Irving and Hazel Burnham Darling.
She grew up in the Sabattus/Lewiston areas and attended schools there. She later furthered her education and received her GED as well as graduated from UM at Lewiston with a degree in business administration.
On Nov. 27 1959, she married, Everett F. Ayer at Monmouth. A marriage made in heaven that lasted the remainder of her life.
She worked at various jobs including at Webster Rubber Heel Co., ending with work in the healthcare field.
She leaves her husband of 53 years, Everett “Chet” Ayer of Sumner; five children, Everett Jr., Gary and Kevin of Sumner, Kelly of Lewiston and Brenda Williams of Auburn; 15 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Connie Bowen and husband, Pete, of LewistonD and Donna Woodman and husband, Lowell, of Monmouth; one brother, Wesley Darling of New Gloucester; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; two sisters, Laura Cloutier and Roberta Ridley; and two brothers, Everett and Laurence Darling.
