LISBON — Jaqueline Schmitz ripped an RBI single in the seventh inning to lift St. Dom’s to a 5-4 win over Lisbon in a KVAC tilt Wednesday.
Bethany Fox led the Saints with two hits and two RBIs, while Kelly Pomerleau also plated a pair of runs. Sam Ladd also contributed with two hits in the contest.
The Greyhounds (3-9) were paced by Kailyn Hill with two hits and three RBIs, while Chantal Bisson belted out two hits and Molly Nicholson drove in a run.
Oak Hill 7, Monmouth 1
WALES — Kortni Michaud hurled seven innings of one-hit softball and drew ample run support as Oak Hill overpowered Monmouth 7-1 in KVAC softball action Wednesday.
The Raiders (8-2) erupted for seven runs in the third frame, sparked by an RBI double from Kelsey Collins. Brianna Hodgkins also contributed with a two-run double.
Paxton Lessard worked the first three innings for Monmouth (4-6) and was tagged with the loss.
Poland 2, Falmouth 0
POLAND — Kylie Martin hurled seven innings of one-hit softball Wednesday as Poland squeaked out a 2-0 victory over Falmouth in an MVC tilt.
Brittina Maheux’s fly ball to right field in the sixth inning sent Hayley Whitworth across the plate to give Poland a 1-0 lead. Maheux scored the Knights’ (7-4) second run when Martin singled to center field to help her own cause.
Mountain Valley 6, Dirigo 4
RUMFORD — After building a 3-0 advantage in the first three frames, Mountain Valley fended off a late rally and hung on to post a 6-4 win over Dirigo in more mid-season softball action Wednesday.
Aly Carlton led the Falcons (6-4) with two hits and two RBIs, while Marston helped her own cause with a pair of hits.
Brittany Ellies led the Cougars with an RBI triple in the fourth.
Winslow 7, Leavitt 3
WINSLOW — Megan Richards scattered six hits and drew adequate run support as Winslow hustled to a 7-3 win over Leavitt.
Ali Leclair led the Black Raiders (8-4) with three hits and one RBI, while Brooke Haskell and Hayley Pottle combined for three hits and two RBIs.
The struggling Hornets (1-10) were led by Olivia Gilbert with a pair of hits, while Annie Castonguay belted a single with one RBI.
Edward Little 11, Brunswick 1
AUBURN — Calli Murray slammed a bases-loaded triple in the second inning to ignite Edward Little’s offense as the Red Eddies routed Brunswick, 11-1, in KVAC softball action Wednesday.
Murray finished the day with two triples. while Danica Nadeau crushed a double of her own for the Eddies (6-5). Nadeau, Murray, Brooke Reynolds, and Sarah Hammond scattered two hits each on the day.
Mikayla Teel for Brunswick pitched the whole game and received the loss, while Jena Libby caught for her behind the plate.
Telstar 13, Spruce Mountain 3
BETHEL — Rachael Wheeler went 4-for-4 and smacked a one-run double and drove in five runs as Telstar walloped Spruce Mountain, 13-3, in a softball game Wednesday.
The Rebels (8-2) erupted with five runs in the fifth inning.
Taylor Savage smacked a one-run triple during the uprising.
Autum Morin had three hits and drove in three runs.
Pitcher Jessie Dirago struck out eight batters to earn the win.
For Spruce Mountain (6-5), catcher Desta Tracy smacked home run in the first inning and drove in two runs. Cass Couture had two hits.
Messalonskee 7, Mt. Blue 5
OAKLAND — After jumping out to a 5-0 advantage in the first three frames, Messalonskee shut down a late rally and hung on for a 7-5 win over Mt. Blue on Wednesday.
Kylee Knight and Nikki Collins led the powerhouse Eagles (11-1) with two hits apiece, while Kai Smith picked up the pitching victory.
The Cougars (1-11) put up three runs in the fifth and followed with two in the sixth, yet Messalonskee also scored in those frames to maintain control.
