CHELSEA — Linda A. (Lunt) Leotsakos, born July 3, 1939, the daughter of the Janet and William Lunt Jr., died at home on May 14.

Linda was a member of the National Honor Society and an all-state basketball player at Falmouth High School, graduating in 1957.

She earned a bachelor’s degree and masters of education from USM. Linda taught in the Gray-New Gloucester school system. She became principal of Chelsea Elementary School in 1982, moving to other schools, retiring in 1996 from the Indian Township School.

She served on a variety of municipal boards in the communities where she lived and in 2011 was elected selectman for Chelsea, a seat that she held until her death. A member of Congregational churches, she served in church leadership roles, taught Sunday School and sang joyfully.

She was involved in the Maine Conference United Church of Christ, the Kennebec Valley Association UCC, and the Gardiner Area Ministers Association, and she volunteered at the Gardiner Food Bank. Linda was an avid bridge player, becoming an ACBL Life Master.

Linda leaves behind three daughters, Alexandra “Sandi” Leotsakos of Chelsea, Christina “Tina” Riley (Shawn) of Jay and Sophia Wilson (Carl) of Orono; grandchildren, Nickolas Leotsakos, Shane and Bryan Riley, Isaiah and Eleni-Claire Wilson; and brothers, William Lunt III of Falmouth and David Lunt of New Gloucester.

She was predeceased by her parents; an infant sister, Alberta Lunt; and an infant granddaughter, Katina Leotsakos.

The family expresses deep appreciation to Alfond Center, HealthReach Hospice and her many friends for their support during her illness.
