RUMFORD — Selectmen will hold a public hearing at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 16, on the proposed municipal budget, followed by their regular meeting.
Both meetings will be held in Rumford Falls Auditorium.
Under old business, the board will consider a request from Wow-Za Zip Lines LLC to place its proposed purchase of town land along the Androscoggin River on the annual town meeting warrant.
At the board’s previous meeting May 2, Rumford attorney and local zip line park developer Thomas Carey sought to have selectmen put the proposal before voters. Carey wants to buy the two lots, numbered 248 and 250, to establish a zip line and recreation park contingent on several conditions.
Lot 248 includes the portion of the lot not needed for the town snow dump or other town purposes. Lot 250 includes the portion not needed for current library purposes and the portion east of the parking lot and current fence, and a 10-foot right of way along the western side of the current fence to Chisholm park.
Among several new business items, the board is expected to act on requests from:
* Mahoosuc Land Trust for in-kind services to help build a river access in Rumford Center on the Androscoggin.
* The Public Works Department to approve warm mix asphalt and trench box bids.
* The River Valley Chamber of Commerce for an Adopt-A-Spot on town property.
* Police Chief Stacy Carter for approval of the school resource police officer grant.
* The voter registrar to eliminate evening hours.
* Town Manager Carlo Puiia to approve tax-acquired property bids.
Three closed-door sessions will round out the evening for police union negotiations, economic development and a personnel matter with the town manager.
