AUBURN — Memorial services honoring the life of Marilynn B. Ames, who died Jan. 8, were held Saturday morning at the Auburn United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ray Richard officiating.
At the beginning of services, Marilynn’s daughter, Karen Eames, welcomed all in attendance and remarked how important the Auburn Methodist Church was in both her mother’s and father, Byron’s, lives. During the service, Marilynn’s great-grandchildren, Mason, Sumner and Atticus Legendre, brought baskets of spring flowers and placed them next to Marilynn’s urn. Words of remembrance were shared by Marilynn’s granddaughters, Addie Lucas and Meghan Myrick. Church services ended with organist Norma Rice Gould playing “All Things Bright and Beautiful.”
Following a funeral procession to Mt. Auburn Cemetery, the Rev. Richard recited committal prayers concluding with bagpiper, Ian Barclay, who played “Scotland the Brave” in tribute to both Marilynn and Byron’s heritage. The Ames family then invited all in attendance to a reception of fellowship at Gipper’s Sports Grill in Auburn. Arrangements by Dillingham & Son in Auburn.
