Although the two artists maintain separate studios, for six years they have met weekly to work and to inspire each other. Both are gardeners and this show is a result of their investigations of their own gardens. The group of over 40 small paintings portrays intimate views of flowers and plants, most in full bloom

While their two approaches are not remarkably dissimilar, on closer inspection they reveal the different visions of two artists. For both, the fascination and challenge of this project has been conveying the fragility and the vigor of plant life. As they worked to attain this dichotomy, light became a key player, describing intimate details, subtle planes and color transitions.
