The Lewiston police department spent Wednesday at Napoleon Bolduc’s camp at Sabattus Lake. As the city could not be left without protection, the force went in relays, and Chef Ricker was obliged to keep the fish chowder, made from the Sabattus brand of cod, hot for the greater part of the day. A ball game took place between the day force and the night force. The night force has some fine ball players, but daylight was too much of a handicap and they were defeated. They are willing to play the day force at any date, after sundown.

A freak storm whipped into sections of the Twin Cities late yesterday afternoon, wrecking havoc with utility lines, uprooting trees, ripping roofs off buildings and disrupting electrical service. Of the two cities, Auburn was the hardest hit. Power failure put at least one radio station off the air for a time and forced a delay of a Northeast Airlines southbound flight. A wind gage at Maple Hill, Auburn, recorded wind gusts of 75 miles per hour. The twister-like winds flipped over the golf shed at Taber’s golf driving range on Lake Shore Drive. Outdoor furniture at the establishment was picked up and hurled across the road. In Lewiston, two large signs at Roderique’s Furniture Co. on the Lisbon Road were blown down and the wind lifted the roof off a shed-type building at the Langelier Feed and Hardware Co.
