WILTON — Selectmen unanimously approved the appointment of Ryan Richardson of Chesterville to the Police Department on Tuesday.

Chief Heidi Wilcox told the board Richardson will replace officer Tim Coombs, who has taken a position with the Maine Warden Service.

Richardson is currently a judicial marshal with the U.S. court system in Portland, Wilcox said. He also serves as a reserve officer with the Jay Police Department.

Raised in Andover, Richardson earned an associate’s degree in law enforcement and also has experience in Piscataquis County, she said.

Wilcox expects Richardson to start work May 31.
