FARMINGTON — The 2013 Mt. Blue girls’ and boys’ tennis teams are announcing that the 24-Hour Tennis Marathon in memory of Barry Carlson and Nolan Thompson will be held Friday and Saturday at Hippach Field courts.
The times are 3 p.m. to midnight May 24 and 9 a.m. to midnight May 25.
The public is invited to participate in this popular fundraising event. Donations may be made at the event or by contacting girls’ coach Judy Upham for more details at 778-4751.
The 2013 teams are enjoying the program’s most successful year to date. Both teams will host a postseason match. The girls’ team is sending two players to the second round of the state singles tournament. There are 18 boys and 28 girls in the program this year.
Fundraising efforts are needed for uniforms and for junior varsity coaches and transportation. When the courts at the high school are completed later this year, there will not be money provided for court maintenance tools, a windscreen, a backboard, lights or a storage shed. The teams would like to make a start toward funding these necessary items.
