Bessey Motors Legion Baseball tryout

PARIS — Bessey Motors Legion Baseball will be holding its 2013 tryouts on Sunday June 2 at 5 p.m. and again on Sunday June 9 at 5 p.m. at the Gouin Athletic complex in Paris. Please attend regardless of weather. Anyone born on or after January 1, 1994 and who attend Oxford Hills HS, Fryeburg Academy, or Lake Region HS are welcome to tryout. Gifford’s Ice Cream 11, Austin Associates 6

AUBURN — Gifford’s Ice Cream held off Austin Associates 11-6 in a five inning game that was called due to darkness. Gifford’s jumped out to an 11-1 lead in the fifth and was eventually able to squelch a furious Austin rally. Gifford’s had multiple hits from Nick Hathaway, Ethan Brown, and Cameron Sturgis. Ben Talpey of Gifford’s also smacked a single. Jake Arel had two hits including a double during the Austin rally to pace the accountants. Jason Taylor had two hits for Austin’s as well. Drew Bennett and Arel shared the mound duties for Austin’s while Ethan Brown got the win for Gifford’s who dipped into the bullpen to finish the contest.

East Auburn 10, Auburn Fire Fighters 2

AUBURN —   East Auburn defeated Auburn Fire Fighters in Auburn Suburban major division baseball 10-2. Ben Cassidy yielded only two hits in six innings to pick up the mound win for East Auburn. Caleb Yarnevich and Tyler Libby had AFF’s two hits with Yarnevich stroking a triple. Cassidy struck out thirteen batters in picking up the win. Cassidy, Jahvon Coney and Mason Aube all had two hits apiece for East Auburn.
