AUGUSTA — Raymond A. Frost, 90, of Mechanic Falls, died at the Togus VA Hospice on Thursday, May 23, after a long battle with lung cancer.
He was born on Aug. 1, 1922, in Mechanic Falls, son of Albert R. Frost and Evis Bridge Frost. He attended Mechanic Falls schools.
Raymond volunteered for the Army Air Force in 1942 and was honorably discharged in 1946 as a Corporal E4. He later married his wife, Dorothy Hall, on Sept. 12, 1955.
He was employed by Waterfalls Tissue Co. (Marcal Paper) of Mechanic Falls as a shipper.
Raymond’s passions were planes, ships and picking wildflowers and sharing them with people in the community. He also enjoyed writing letters to dignitaries. Raymond was a life-time member of the V.F.W.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy, of 58 years; his six sons, Greg and wife, Karen, of Melbourne, Fla., Christopher and wife, Jackie, of South Paris, Carl of Mechanic Falls, Mike and partner, Anita Chabot, of Lewiston, Dana and fiancée, Julie Hayman, of South Paris, Donald and wife, Linda, of Mechanic Falls; daughter Theresa Toothaker and husband, David, of South Paris; brother, Vernard of Scarborough; 18 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents, Albert R. Frost and Evis Bridge Frost; sisters, Marguerite Larock, Charlotte Hartley and Lola Collins; and grandson Christopher Toothaker.
