AUBURN — Diane “Baba” Stretton, 55, of Lewiston, peacefully passed away Thursday, May 23, at the Androscoggin Hospice House after a long illness.

She was born in Lewiston on Oct. 22, 1957, the daughter of Robert and Irene (Robichaud) St. Denis. She attended local schools, graduating from Lewiston High School in the Class of 1976. On Oct. 16, 1982, she married her best friend, Thomas Stretton, and together they raised their two young sons.

She worked five years at Bates Mill in the payroll and accounts payable department and later worked for the Lewiston School Department at Montello School as a teacher’s aide as an Ed Tech. “Baba” enjoyed sewing, ceramics, gardening barefoot in the summer and collecting angels. Her greatest joy and love was spending time with family and being a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to those around her.

She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Thomas Stretton, two sons; Thomas Stretton and Timothy Stretton, both of Lewiston; mother, Irene St. Denis; grandson, Sam; sister, Anne Moreau and husband, Philippe, of Greene; brother, Gerry St. Denis and wife, Kelly, of Auburn; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, David and Linda Stretton of Lewiston; nephews, Andrew and James Moreau, Ryan and Kyle Stretton, and Gregory and Michael St. Denis; her favorite niece, Lizzie; and niece, Kerri St. Denis.

Diane was predeceased by her beloved daughter, Angel Alice Stretton; and her father, Robert. She is now in heaven with them both to watch over her family, friends and neighbors.

The family wishes to thank the staff on D-3 at St. Mary’s Hospital, Dr. Pandey, Dr. Jensen, Androscoggin Home Health Services, the Androscoggin Hospice House and Becky, her nurse and friend.
