Last year, Rumford voters supported the Lincoln Avenue extension in a non-binding resolution. The approved resolution meant that Lincoln Avenue would be extended to Maple Street and Swain Road for improved ambulance and fire department service.

This spring, I was told at the town hall that $25,000 would be appropriated for the extension within the public works article. Later, however, I learned that the money for the extension had been taken out of the budget.

So, the Rumford town budget contains no money this year for the Lincoln Avenue extension.

I will follow this issue more closely next year to try to gain improved ambulance and fire department service for Rumford residents in that area.
