RUMFORD — Colin Merrill crushed a solo home run to lead Mountain Valley to an important 2-1 MVC baseball win over Lisbon.
Merrill and Akers each smacked two hits each on the day, with Akers adding a triple. Adam Volkernick took the win on the mound for the Falcons (8-6) with a complete game and 11 strikeouts.
Kyle Bourget threw five innings for the Greyhounds (5-11) and placed the only extra base hit for Lisbon with a double. Tucker Brannon relieved Bourget in the fifth.
Spruce Mtn. 27, Boothbay 2
LIVERMORE FALLS — Pat Ryan smacked three hits around the field, driving in five runs as Spruce Mountain shut down Boothbay 27-2 in MVC baseball action Tuesday.
Ryan ripped a triple in his final regular-season home game. John McKenna had the win on the mound for the Phoenix (8-7) while getting hit support from Lucas Preble, who placed three hits, and Ian O’Donnell who added a pair.
Lewiston 1, Messalonskee 0
OAKLAND — Eddie Emerson twirled a four-hit shutout to give Lewiston a 1-0 KVAC baseball victory over Messalonskee on Tuesday.
Emerson, who had seven strikeouts, improved his record to 5-2. he escaped a jam in the fifth inning with runners on first and third, getting a batter to fly out and another ground out to preserve the lead.
Michael Wong scored the only run for Lewiston on a single by Eric Soucy.
Nick Perreault led the Blue Devils (10-6) with two hits. Patrick Breton allowed seven hits on the day for Messalonskee while striking out three.
Oak Hill 11, Monmouth 4
MONMOUTH — Ryan Riordan had a fine day on the mound, holding the Monmouth offense to four runs on nine hits as Oak Hill overwhelmed Monmouth 11-4 in MVC baseball action Tuesday.
Dalton Therrien led the way for the Raiders (8-8) with three hits, one of which was a double. Jonah Martin placed two hits on the day as well, smacking a triple and a double. Riordan helped his own effort with two singles.
Nathan Gagne took the loss on the mound for the Mustangs (10-5). Kyle Fletcher lashed out three hits.
Hampden 8, Edward Little 2
HAMPDEN — Matt Martin took the win on the mound for Hampden, allowing two runs on six hits while striking out 13, as Hampden outgunned Edward Little 8-2 in KVAC baseball.
Logan Steward smacked a two-run home run for the Broncos (14-2) in the first inning. Matt Palmer and Matt Martin each placed two hits.
John Simpson had the loss on the mound for the Red Eddies (5-11). Mike Hammond had two hits.
Camden Hills 8, Leavitt 7
CAMDEN — Camden Hills took advantage of five Leavitt errors, rallying from a three-run deficit with three in the fourth and three more in the fifth to swipe an 8-7 KVAC Class B baseball win Tuesday.
Nate Coombs had two hits for the Hornets. Sean Godfrey knocked in two runs.
Winthrop 8, Wiscasset 1
WINTHROP — Winthrop scored seven combined runs in the fourth and fifth innings and winning pitcher Jared Hanson struck out six batters as the Ramblers (12-2) beat the Wolverines, 8-1, in an MVC baseball game Tuesday.
Ben Caprara and Dan Allen each tripled, and Allen drove in a run. Mario Meucci smacked a one-run double in the fourth inning. For Wiscasset (5-10), Bert Chaswick had two hits.

Oak Hill 19, Mt. Blue 0
FARMINGTON —Kyle Flaherty scored seven goals, Jon Averill added four and Chris Harlow had three for Oak Hill in a 19-0 Class B lacrosse blanking of Mt. Blue.
Dakota Williams made 15 saves for the Cougars. J.T. Williams paced Mt. Blue with eight ground balls.
Winthrop-Maranacook 15, EL 11
WINTHROP — Dan Condon scored six goals and Toby Smith added four as Winthrop-Maranacook stopped Edward Little 15-11 in a boys’ lacrosse game Tuesday.
The Hawks (10-2) led 8-7 after the first half. For EL, Matt Adams and Trevor Haley each scored four goals.
