In the days after fires displaced scores of residents from their fire-ravaged apartment buildings in Lewiston earlier this month, Northeast Bank donated $6,000 to victims of the fires. On May 2 it announced a donation of $1,000 to the American Red Cross for its efforts to support displaced tenants. On May 7 it donated $5,000 to the YWCA Lewiston Fire Victims Fund. Auburn Savings Bank has contributed $1,000 to the United Way of Androscoggin for relief efforts following the Lewiston fires. Of that donation, $500 came from a fund established by bank employees, with a matching donation of $500 from the bank. For the donation, Joleen Bedard, executive director of the United Way of Androscoggin County, left, was joined by Auburn Savings Bank’s Lewiston Branch Supervisor Megan Moody and Auburn Branch Supervisor Aimee Brown.
Electricity Maine recently presented a check for $775 to the American Red Cross of Maine to assist those displaced by the recent fires in downtown Lewiston. As part of their Power to Help fund, Electricity Maine pledged $5 per new enrollment from May 8 through May 12.
