NORWAY — Glenwood L. “Smitty” Smith, 77, of Norway, passed away on May 29, at Stephens Memorial Hospital.
He was born in South Paris, March 23, 1936, the son of Laurence and Alice LaFrance Smith. He served in the U.S. Air Force as a medic in Germany, where he met the love of his life, his wife, Anna Zierer and they were married in Munich, Germany on Jan. 27, 1958.
Glen worked at the Rumford Paper Mill for 37 years, retiring in 1999. Glen and Anna ran a mineral craft business. Together they enjoyed traveling in their RV to Pennsylvania.
He is survived by a daughter, Karen Tibbetts and her companion, Bill Goff, both of Roxbury; a son, Larry Smith and his wife, June and granddaughter, Jennifer, all of Dixfield; and a sister-in-law, Louise Smith of South Attleboro, Mass.
He was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Anna in May 2006; a son, Michael in December 2006; and a brother, Alan Smith.
