LIVERMORE — Administrative assistant Kurt Schaub said Thursday that 42 of the 54 streetlights in town are proposed to be eliminated.

An informational meeting on the proposal was held Wednesday night. The issue will go before voters at the annual town meeting at 7 p.m. June 12 at the Livermore Elementary School.

A committee reviewed the streetlights in March.

Budget Committee Chairwoman Tina Quirrion said previously that the proposal could save the town more than $5,000 in the first year.

The town currently pays $7,388 for lights.

The streetlights slated to stay are at the intersections of Waters Hill and Route 4, Route 4 and Church Street, routes 4 and 108, Route 4 and Goding Road, Route 4 and Gibbs Mill Road, Crash Road and Route 4, Crash Road and Hathaway Hill Road, Boothby and Norlands roads, Tessier and Crash roads. Also proposed to stay is the light at the bottom of Botka Hill Road, and the light on Route 4 near River Road.

The committee is also recommending a streetlight at the intersection of Turkey Lane and Boothby Road be moved to the next pole, which is closer to Route 4, Schaub said.
