LEWISTON — The Center for Wisdom’s Women, a day drop-in center for women, will feature three new programs in June.

At 1 p.m. Monday, June 3, Crigen Richards will lead a workshop on making paper beads in the style of the “Beads for Life” project. The beads will be used in the center’s new Gratitude Bead project. For information, visit http://beadforlifestore.org/loose-beads.asp.

On Wednesday morning, June 12, Sarah Shepley and Tarilea Nehring will teach a class on making “Lotus Field Books.”  The expandable little square books are works of art for and from the heart.  

On Monday morning, June 17, Raven Merrill will talk about how to listen and pay attention to the inner muse.  All morning classes run from 10 to 11:30 a.m.

Also in the morning three fairly new programs will be repeated by request. On Monday, June 10, Mary Therese Duffy will lead a class on finding and nourishing sacred energy.  It is a time of gentle movement.

Betty Allen will return on Wednesday, June 19, with her “Housekeeping 101” class, focusing on cleaning windows.  She teaches ordinary, non-chemical (and cheaper) ways to clean.

Alison Dube will repeat her classes on how to make own laundry detergent and bar soap at 1 p.m. Tuesdays, June 11 and 18.

Other classes that meet at 10 a.m. include Lindsey Tomlinson-Peck from the Mud Room leading a “Play with Clay” session on Tuesday, June 4; cooking club on Tuesday, June 11; Art Van on Wednesday, June 26. The Writer’s Workshop meets weekly on Monday mornings.

The monthly women’s “Full Moon Singing Circle” will meet at 6 p.m. Sunday, June 23. No experience is needed. Hot tea will be provided.

Several support groups meet at the center.  The fibromyalgia group is scheduled for Thursdays, June 13 and 27. A new group for family caregivers is starting weekly on Tuesdays, and the new LBT group will meet on Thursday, June 27, for Lesbian, Transgendered, Bisexual women and their friends or family. Each of those will be held at 1 p.m A weekly Al-anon group meets on Wednesdays at 12:15 p.m.

The center will be closed on Fridays from June through August.  The schedule for all events is posted at www.wisdomswomen.org. All women are welcome and no appointments are needed. Programs are free The center stocks personal hygiene items to give away. Oatmeal breakfasts are available daily and the center has a shower available for use.
